BRIEF:
A Mythological Maya Device. According to the Popol Vuh, the sacred Maya text, the gods created humanity from maize after failed attempts with mud and wood. Seeking humans of pure essence to honor them, the Maya priesthood devised the Heart-Stone Scanner — a mythical device operated by high-ranking priests to detect divine purity and spiritual connection within chosen children before sacrifice. Considered a mythological precursor to modern MRI technology, the scanner was said to reveal unseen qualities within the human body. Its operation was a closely guarded secret, known only to the most senior priests. For millennia, it was thought lost — until a recent earthquake uncovered a hidden chamber containing the fabled device. Legend says that activating the scanner with a soul pure enough to pass its judgment is the only way to open the next chamber: the sacred preparation room for sacrifice.
